Biography(references)Schilt began practicing Kyokushin kaikan at 8 as both of his parents were practitioners. He later switched to Ashihara kaikan at 12 and earned the rank of black belt at the age of 18.
Combat ApproachStanding close to 7 feet with an 88 inch reach, Semmy Schilt's sheer size made him a difficult task for any opponent. While Schilt was not the most explosive fighter, his weight and size meant that his strikes were heavy and capable of inflicting damage even when they weren't thrown with speed. This was a problem for fighters who relied on the high guard; Schilt's weight in his strikes allowed him to stun or concuss opponents through their defense.
