Biography(references)Phillip Jack Brooks was born in Chicago on October 26, 1978, the son of a housewife and an engineer. He grew up in nearby Lockport, where he attended Lockport Township High School. He has five siblings. His father struggled with alcoholism, which inspired Brooks to follow a straight edge lifestyle from an early age; his mother had bipolar disorder, causing him to become estranged from her.
Fighter Trivia(references)Brooks married fellow wrestler April Mendez, also known as AJ Lee, on June 13, 2014. Amann was seeking roughly $4 million in compensation and an undisclosed amount in punitive damages. In August 2018, Colton filed a lawsuit against Brooks, alleging breach of contract and fraud due to Brooks's alleged agreement and later refusal to pay Colton's legal fees for the Amann suit.
